I'm emailing you all on behalf of Sharon and Maureen and the McDaniel family. I'm sure by now you all are aware of the massive fire that destroyed a historic (100+yrs old) building in South Fulton (Fairburn, GA). http://www.wsbtv.com/news/22530483/detail.html

This building housed many businesses, but one in particular, Oohs and Ahhs Hair Salon.
It has been owned and operated for 16 years (the anniversary was this month) by my amazing Aunt Sharon McDaniel and her family. Sharon has been a hairdresser her entire life and spent the first two decades of her career working in several salons in Atlanta building enough clientele and experience to one day open her own shop. In 1994, her dream became a reality. Her daughter, Maureen, followed in her footsteps and started working for the salon. Maureen was about to celebrate her 5th year and had a huge following as well. Sharon's ultimate dream was for Maureen to eventually take over the business one day.

Around 1am Thursday morning, a fire started in the upstairs of one of the buildings on the Fairburn corner. Sharon and her husband arrived on the scene to a massive fire that had already engulfed 3 businesses...but theirs still remained untouched. Praying firefighters would put the fire out in time before the flames got to her shop, the wind was too strong and Sharon, her husband and two daughters watched the fire destroy what they had built and grew up in as a family.

She was renting her space from the property owner and had no insurance on her belongings within. We want nothing more for Sharon (and for our entire family who felt "the shop" was our own family business) to one day open her Oohs and Ahhs Hair Salon again.

Our family has planned a fundraiser at Park Bench in Atlanta on Wednesday, February 24 starting at 7pm. Donation of $10 will be required at the door. There will be FREE BEER (liquor drinks can purchased as well) and live music the entire night!

This is a family in need. Sharon is out of work, as well as her daughter,Maureen, so two self-reliant independent women who contributed so much to their community and are loved by many now need a "makeover" if you will, in terms of starting over.
